Cylinder Maintenance and Hydraulic Pressure Testing

Seamless steel, aluminum and composite compressed gas cylinders requires periodic re-qualification process after certain years depending on the cylinder manufacturing standards.

Generally, the re-qualification process is divided into two sections:

Visual inspection :

  • Before any work is carried out, the relevant cylinder data and its contents and ownership shall be identified. Each cylinder shall be cleaned and have all loose coatings, corrosion products, tar, oil or other foreign matter removed from its external surface.
  • The external surface of each cylinder shall then be inspected for dents, cuts, gouges, bulges, cracks, lamination or excessive base wear heat damage, torch or electric arc burns Corrosion.
  • Each cylinder shall be inspected internally also (with the valve removed), using adequate illumination to identify any defects.

Hydraulic Pressure Testing

  • It is a hydraulic system to determine the volumetric expansion of seamless steel gas cylinders.
  • When carrying out a pressure test, a suitable fluid, normally water shall be used as the test medium.

Buzwair Gases is one of few companies in the region which has an approved testing facility from Department of Transportation USA (DOT) since 2012. Our workshop is fully equipped with modern testing console, all the special tools and machines for steel shot blasting, internal cylinders drying, valving/de-valving, internal inspection and cylinders stamping.

Buzwair Gases installs first Liquid to Gaseous Nitrogen system for Laser in Qatar

Buzwair Gases Qatar has installed its first Liquid Nitrogen to Gas system in The State of Qatar July 2018.
After long and intense negotiations to find the correct technical system at a suitable price level for both parties, Buzwair Gases and Pro- Suppliers signed a 5 year gas supply agreement to install a bulk nitrogen system that will give high purity nitrogen at high pressure and volume flow rates.
Nitrogen is generally used when cutting stainless steel or aluminum in order to achieve excellent quality unlike oxygen, Nitrogen serves as a shielding gas in cutting light gauge materials to stop the burning process and allows the Laser to vaporize the material.

The system involved installing a 10,000 high pressure bilk liquid Nitrogen tank and vaporizing system that will feed nitrogen of 99.999% purity at 36 bar pressure.
A stainless steel pipeline was installed from the Vaporisor and pipe routed from outside the main fabrication and cutting workshop of Pro-suppliers to a gas safety control system that controlled the flow and pressure of the nitrogen before entering into 2 Laser steel cutting machines.
Buzwair Gases produces industrial, medical & speciality gases in the state of Qatar and was founded in 1954.

Fully Automated Nitrous (N2O) Oxide Cylinder Filling Station

Buzwair Gases has recently installed a fully automated Nitrous (N2O) Oxide cylinder filling station at one of its gases facilities in Doha Qatar. Nitrous Oxide has significant medical uses especially in surgery and dentistry for its anesthetic and pain reducing effects and has been used since 1844. Inhalation of Nitrous Oxide is used frequently to relieve pain associated with childbirth, trauma, oral surgery and acute coronary syndrome. Buzwair Nitrous oxide conforms with all international medical standards and analysed in our ISO 17025 accredited laboratory.

It is thought that this is a first in Qatar a system which does not require normal cranes to do such work.
Gulf Helium Services is based in Raslaffan west side services area some 20 kilometers away from one of the worlds most advanced and largest liquification production facility of liquid helium.

Milestone of 1,000th container handling by Gulf Helium Services Qatar

1000 container handling by gulf helium services

Gulf Helium Services marks a milestone step in their operations in handling the 1,000th helium containers with a celebration that was held at their facility located in Ras Laffan West Side Support Service Area, Qatar on 23rd May 2017. The ceremony was attended by Mr. Fahad M F Buzwair, Chairman of Buzwair Holding, Mr. Akiji Makino, Chairman & CEO of Iwatani Corporation and also by Mr. Norikazu Onishi, President and CEO of LNG Japan Corporation, representing the three shareholders of Gulf Helium Services. Gulf Helium Services – Qatar’s first helium total facility solution center has handled more than 1,000 40foot ISO Helium containers facilitating logistics support to reach the same to various end users in many parts of the world.

Gulf Helium Services is a Joint Venture Company established in 2013 by a Qatari Company and 2 Japanese Corporations – Buzwair Industrial Gases Factories, Iwatani Corporation and LNG Japan Corporation.

GHS is the first and the only helium handling facility in Qatar incorporating liquid and gaseous helium trans-filling, helium ISO Container maintenance and road haulage logistics services. The container logistics is the transportation of liquid helium containers between Jebel Ali Port in the United Arab Emirates and Ras Laffan, Qatar.

Liquid Helium is supplied from Qatar Helium-2 production facility in Ras Laffan with a 20 years SPA to Iwatani Corporation.

Gulf Helium Services facilitates the use of Qatar helium offering a reliable and a quality service to the Qatari end users as well as to customer in the Middle East & North Africa Markets with the advantage of their ultra-modern trans-filling efficiency. Gulf Helium Services will help secure the stable supply of helium in this region meeting the increasing demand in medical applications, specialized welding, deep sea diving, and as an industrial coolant.
